Abstract

Abstract: The utilization of digital technology in Kalimantan demonstrates significant potential in strengthening the relationship between religion and culture in multicultural societies. Introduction: The development of digital media such as YouTube, Instagram, and live streaming platforms has facilitated the dissemination of religious and cultural values, connecting communities across regions and even across countries. This phenomenon is evident in religious traditions such as the Haul Guru Sekumpul, which can be widely accessed and encourages cross-cultural appreciation. Methods: This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, observation of digital content, and analysis of socio-cultural phenomena emerging in the online space of Kalimantan’s communities. Results: First, digital technology expands the reach of religious and cultural values. Second, online spaces open opportunities for inclusive interfaith and intercultural dialogue, facilitating the exchange of perspectives and reducing prejudice. Third, digital documentation and innovation revitalize local traditions, bridging local wisdom with younger generations without diminishing their spiritual meaning. Fourth, challenges such as hoaxes and hate speech require enhancing digital literacy with a focus on information verification, communication ethics, and contextual awareness. Fifth, harmonization strategies include digital literacy training, the development of collaborative cross-community platforms, and the production of positive content. Consistent implementation of these strategies can transform digital spaces into inclusive ecosystems that foster collective awareness to respect differences, celebrate diversity, and strengthen social cohesion in the era of globalization.
